Is it too early to start counting down to spring break?
Every morning when I roll out of bed and walk down to my daughter’s room she asks for “5 more minutes.” I can’t blame her, I hit the snooze button a few times myself. So I set a 5 minute timer in her room as I start to get ready for the day.
We’re both exhausted. Not always from being tired, but just from the routine of the morning. Usually I love the mornings, but not when I have somewhere to rush over to. We go through all of the steps of getting ready, eating breakfast, packing lunches, and rushing out of the door. I drop her off at morning care and rush to beat the clock on getting to work on time.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Then the weekends pass in the blink of an eye and we’re back at it again.
Recently I started the morning count downs to spring break. Something about “7 more alarms until vacation” make these early mornings a little bit easier. My daughter gets so excited, you’d think we were going on some fancy trip or spending the week in Disney World.
In reality, we’re going to St. Louis. We just wanted to get out of the house, stay in a hotel with a nice pool, and go explore somewhere different. Although it’s not a fancy trip, it’s just enough for a quick escape from reality. No cooking, no cleaning, no work, no school, and most importantly- no alarm clocks!
